Catnapping at 6 months help

My boy is 6 months this week, we have been following “little ones” sleep routine and he has been great he goes to bed at night in his own room no issue I just do our routine- feed bath story bed and he goes straight to sleep.
He has even started sleeping almost through the night, and he self settle in the night if he wakes after a couple of minutes.

However I’m an totally unable to get him to sleep for more than exactly 30 minutes at a time in the day, he wakes suddenly and immediately starts screaming, nothing I do gets him to settle back to sleep then the rest of the day routine is out if the window- it’s me just trying to cobble together random naps to make him upto the 2.5-3 hours.
I have tried rouse to wake, letting him cry for short intervals, feeding, rocking and going to walks.

This has been going on for weeks and I’m worried he isn’t getting what he needs to develop properly!?!

Does anyone have any suggestions?
