Small v SMALL

I've been noodling about on Pinterest looking at ideas for making a small loft space (10ft x 10ft) into a bedroom as I'm hoping to move into a tiny cottage later in the year.

All I can say is that some people have a VERY different idea of what constitutes 'small'. Also 'low sloping ceiling' (in my place you can only stand up down the ridge of the roof), as they seem to think this means an enormity of floor space under the eaves. It's a fucking cottage, not a French chateau.

What else can I sort by to make sure that 'small' or 'tiny' actually means 'small'?

Am I mad?

From experience of this it’s better to use the words “TINY LIVING SPACE” small to Americans (a lot of Pinterest) is not small in the U.K.!!

I live in a cottage that is in total 5m x 7m externally

Pinterest is definitely American scale in terms of sizing. When i seach for 'small kitchen idea' or 'small pantry ideas' they are not my idea of small.

Ie my 'pantry' needs reorganising to maximise storage. Its a door width wide, and about 1.5m deep. Basically a large cupboard. I am thinking wall hung extra thin shelves and neat new storage ideas. Pinterest comes out with 'tiny pantry' with washing machines, full size sinks, food storage for the apocalypse, space for microwvaes, kitchen aids and every gadget going..

Maybe try adding 'uk' into searches

Good idea about adding UK to my search. I've been looking at kitchens and bathrooms too, and I can only conclude that a lot of people don't know what a 'farmhouse kitchen' actually looks like! There's been a marked absence of wet cat, horse tack, feed sacks and dog beds in the ones I've been looking at...

Still bloody love Pinterest though.
