Tigerbandage · 30/10/2019 19:07

Not sure about the counter sign but she won't need to go for an interview

yearinyearout · 30/10/2019 19:07

Presumably the new photo will be somewhat different to her last one so will need countersigning. Why would she be called to interview?

KnifeAngel · 30/10/2019 19:08

If her picture has changed significantly she will need a countersignature.

Tigerbandage · 30/10/2019 19:09

My older daughter and friend both got called to interview for first adult passport but they never had child passports
Shit I don’t know anyone to countersign

Actually scrap that you won't need a counter signature either as long as her new photo is recognisable as her when compared to her old passport. Just remembered I did my ex's adult passport from a child's one and didn't need a counter signature

Tigerbandage · 30/10/2019 19:10

Well she’s 16 now old photo she was 12 so hasn’t changed a lot

LIZS · 30/10/2019 19:10

No you don't.

TeddyBeans · 30/10/2019 19:10

One of her teachers can counter sign for you if you need it

Aurea · 30/10/2019 19:11

My 17 year old son just renewed his child passport to an adult one. He did it online with a photo taken on his phone. He did not need to have it counter signed.

Super quick and easy.

Tigerbandage · 30/10/2019 19:12

She’s just started a new college, seems a bit cheeky to go back to the old school and ask! But hopefully won’t need it

Thanks Aurea, that’s put my mind at rest, how long did it take to arrive? Need to get a good photo in daylight but I’m always at work

Around a week. I did mine the same time and it took 10 days. This was in August.

Tigerbandage · 30/10/2019 19:24

Great thank you, I’ll get it sorted this week

From looking at the gov website I don’t think they need it to be countersigned. Why not ring the passport office to double check?

Sahej · 30/10/2019 23:13

Yes it does need to be countersigned it can all be done online now including uploading passport photo.

If you go somewhere like max photos, timpsons etc they'll give you a code which you put in online and your photo uploads

HoldMyLobster · 31/10/2019 00:13

DD age 16 just went from child passport to adult passport. We took the photo against a wall, uploaded it with the application, no countersigning required.

Tigerbandage · 31/10/2019 12:45

Fab thanks all

dementedpixie · 31/10/2019 12:47

You do it as a renewal. No countersignature or interview required

SoupDragon · 31/10/2019 12:47

DS1's first adult passport didn't need counter signing either.

SoupDragon · 31/10/2019 12:48

(Renewal from a child one, not a first passport)

dementedpixie · 31/10/2019 12:49

And do it online as it's about £10 cheaper. We used uploaded pictures from our phone to do 3 renewals this year
