The council have offered us to view a flat on Tuesday (Scotland). They said they have a few separate viewings that day. Could anyone tell me what happens at a council viewing as I've never done one before? TIA

if they are going to offer you the tenancy they will let you know that you have it you then go to the council office sign the paperwork and they tell you when the tenancy begins its pretty straightforward,

For us it was viewing and financial assessment in one. Had to prove rent was less than 40 percent of income after deductions.

When we were offered a viewing we were told before we even went that if we wanted to accept we would sign the day after the viewing, pay the weeks rent and get the keys.

We were the only one viewing and everything was already completed - eligibility and affordability - before we were even offered to view.

For us it moved very, very quickly - had an email offer on the Wednesday evening, phone call Thursday morning, they wanted us to view on the Friday but unfortunately we were at a funeral so viewed the Monday and we signed the Tuesday. We had been at the top of the list (no bidding when we were allocated) for 5mths waiting for a suitable property to become available.

I chummed someone to a viewing.
The housing officer showed them around, made a note of things like missing cupboards doors saying these would be fixed( they never were)
What they wish theyd also done at viewing was to check to run the taps and check under the sink.( The kitchen sink was unusable when they moved in as a washing machine connection was uncapped and the water just flooded the floor)

Anyway day after the viewing the had appointment at local office to sign up for tenancy. Given date to move in.
