Dog shit on doorstep

nicannie · 30/10/2019 14:24

Anyone else ever walked out their front door to find a big pile of dog shit? I just did.

We are currently doing our driveway up so don't ask about the concrete blocks used as steps but essentially someone has let there dog wander up our driveway and take a shit and never picked it up.

This happened a few weeks back, and I watched the owner see it happen and walk away, it was the house opposite me. I was angry for them, and now it's happened to me it must be the same dog! I know which house they live in as well

I'm 21w pregnant so pretty hormonal as expected so I'm probably more angry than I should be - I've phoned environmental health about it and I have a ref number, but what would you do about this situation ?

I have picked up the poo, which made me angrier cos I've had to pick up some other dogs shit, totally unacceptable in my eyes

We live in the basement and we've had it at the top of our steps.

QueenoftheDay · 30/10/2019 14:28

If you know who it is, return it to them. Via their letterbox. Only polite.

nicannie · 30/10/2019 14:34

@PhrightomenaButterfly what did you do about it? Just pick it up and move on or report or try find out the culprit ?

Report them to the Council.

nicannie · 30/10/2019 14:37

@Winterdaysarehere I've phoned and filed the report of dog fouling on private property with the council, but the woman on the phone basically said she isn't sure there is much can be done. But at least I've reported it - and will do if I see it happening again

Winterdaysarehere · 30/10/2019 14:37

Take pics if you can...

nicannie · 30/10/2019 14:48

@Winterdaysarehere I have the one above and then one back a bit proving that it's our door step with the door and mess in it so hopefully that's good enough as I've picked it up as it was right in the way of getting to the door

Winterdaysarehere · 30/10/2019 14:50

Stalk him at your window and try get an action shot!! Send pics to the council.

nicannie · 30/10/2019 15:01

@Winterdaysarehere good idea. I'll move myself to my seat at front window and try catch in the act! Wish I had a photo of the dog doing it in the neighbours driveway

Maybe they have cctv?

nicannie · 30/10/2019 15:29

I don't want to make the area I live in sound awful, but people round here don't have much at all. Really low employment and majority don't work. There is no cctv unfortunately. Everyone is either old and in a bought house or young and in council housing

Dirty fuckers Angry
We have two dog owners that pass through our street who do this.
The worse thing is at the bottom of the street the fields start so if they kept them on lead the dogs would shit in the field.
But no they let the dogs off to use the few gardens Angry
I would hate to live in the end house.

nicannie · 30/10/2019 15:39

@TheQueef omg that's horrid! Dirty clampits! And they do this regularly? What do the people in your street do about it ??? That's gross!

OP posts:
TheQueef · 30/10/2019 15:43

A dog walker used to do it too!
With five or six dogs at once.
Luckily I have a Very Nosey Neighbour who told the walker off Grin
Even when they do pick it up and bag it they do mad things like leave the bag on a gate catch or carefully hang it in the hedge.
Honestly they should allow dogs but ban the people.

Winterdaysarehere · 30/10/2019 15:57

Op slight derail but my df had neighbours he called The Clampits, garden full of old bikes and scrap. One night the man knocked for df. I shouted that Mr Clampit was at the door.
They weren't really The Clampit family..
Blush

If you know who it is report to dog warden. We have a hunt kennels near us and some of the staff let their dogs roam and poo down the lane, on our garden and drive. I've even confronted one of them stood watching her dog poo on our path. She denied she was going to leave it so I asked how she was going to pick it up without a bag. She went home and got a carrier bag.
She fetched a spade when she saw my daughter watching her from the window a few weeks later.
There is a poo bin 10m down the road!
I reported to the dog warden once I knew which house it was as they said they would send a letter and go round.

nicannie · 31/10/2019 08:40

@Bexi3 I already reported to the council, the dog warden doesn't deal with this stuff they said but the environmental health or whatever does, they are phoning me back today and I have the actual house where the dog lives so I have the address now too.

That's unbelievable !

Maybe shout after him that he has dropped something....
Our old head teacher used to do this to litter droppers!!

nicannie · 01/11/2019 08:06

Update is - the council phoned me back. Asked for more details, I gave them note in which house it was. They had already been in the street to familiarise themselves with it before they phoned me back, they also have put up those 'dog fouling on spot fine' posters in the lampposts in the street with a number to call if anyone sees it. So sounds like they are taking it seriously

My OH told me that he was stopped the other night on way into the street, someone had clipped the dog with their car and wondered who it belonged too. He told them where but left it that, the dog wasn't badly injured.

My sister also speaks to a woman down the road (their daughters attend the same school) and she mentioned the posters to my sister, to which she replied what happened with the poo at our front door. She said it's been happening to her for months now, poo all in her garden constantly and she referenced the black lab. So it's clear this guy is letting his dog run around doing the toilet in everyone's garden and not giving a shit

Next time I saw him I'd open up the dog poo bag and sling it at him 😡 I know that's not a real life solution but people like this drive me mad, so irresponsible

nicannie · 01/11/2019 08:47

I agree @sprite25 I even kept the bag when I picked it up as I thought I genuinely would go back and give it to him but know that solves nothing. It's really annoying. Especially when I have two dogs and I'd never ever do that
