What do you call your downstairs corridor

What do you call the corridor downstairs in your house as you come in and the rooms come off it?

And how would you refer differently if you wanted to refer to the whole space that was that corridor and the stairs & upstairs landing above it?

Am managing insomnia by setting up my new smart lightbulbs and need different names for just the downstairs (hallway?) light and the whole space (hall?) including the landing above as well! If names are too similar then Computer gets pedantic with you...I’ve already named our bedside lights ‘Port’ and ‘Starboard’

I also thought this was a euphemism, I may have to use it now 😂 I’ve just got round to replacing the light bulb in the hall after 3 or so months, don’t think smart bulbs will ever be a thing here💡🤣

I'll be calling it "the gooch" from now on.

Around here, the downstairs hall is called the lobby. So you could have lobby, stairs and landing and the whole thing could be the hallway.

😂 I'm sat here wondering if downstairs corridor is an acceptable term for vaginas and if it'll take off 😂 I think it will.

I'm Scottish and we've always called our hall the lobby (as in awa ben (basically through to) the lobby to fetch yer baffies (slippers) laddie.)
which once I was older I realised that everywhere else that didn't mean the same thing but meh I still call it that or hall.

Ooh, now I think I need smart bulbs.

We call downstairs the passage, upstairs the landing, and the collective area the hallway.

We also have a “lobby”, this is what it was called on the estate agent plans and still makes me laugh! It’s just a small space between the hall and the kitchen.

@Kyvia if you can hold out until Black Friday then Philips Hue is always on sale at Amazon/Curry's/Argos etc. I've got pretty much every room kitted out now, love the lightstrips and I'm hankering after the new box that means I can sync my Play's to my tv...I may have a bit of a problem

I say back passage never gave it a thought until someone said

Lobby - and I was surprised to have to get to the 2nd page to see anyone else suggest it.

Stairwell for all of them might work.
