It's my birthday today and I'm slightly miffed at DH for not getting me a card or one on behalf of infant DS. He used to be thoughtful but since DS he has not bothered to do anything. Nothing on our anniversary, he didn't even acknowledge my first mother's day (I made a lot of effort for his first father's day and he got a card for his second) and no card for my birthday although he did wish me happy birthday this morning.

He still has the card I got DS to make for his birthday 4 months ago displayed on his bedside table as it's so special to him.

I did say something but he admitted that yes, I was right he had not got a card. He went out to get fuel earlier, I thought he may return with a card or chocolate bar then but nothing.

I'm aware this is mumsnet and birthdays are not a thing unless you're under 10 but I don't care. He's currently snoring loudly next to me which is just annoying me more.

I get where you're coming from OP. It's the thoughtlessness that hurts.

I can't believe he didn't pick you one up after you mentioned it to him, that just seems cruel. It takes literally no effort, and I'd be pissed off too.

That's exactly it and it probably wouldn't feel that bad if he has always been like this but he used to be so thoughtful. I'm talking little things too like our anniversary when I was days from giving birth, he came home with some Krispy Kremes.

Just complain a lot, loudly. He won't make that mistake again .

I come from a family of non-birthday markers. Gets right on my goat.
