Heart radio

This is kind of an AIBU, but too irrelevant to actually go in there...

Anyone else so fed up with Heart radio? First thing in the morning you have Amanda Holden joining in with "It's the first caller of the dayyyy... YEAH, YEAH, YEAH" in a completely tuneless and deafening squawk, then you have "HEEEAAARRRRTTTT's thir-ty-k TRIPLE PLAY" or "HEEEAAARRRRTTTT's TWO.... MILLION... in the muuusic " rammed down your throat every few seconds. They also seem to have some sort of deal with autotune companies in that they'll only play songs that have been processed, chewed up by a computer and then published. Yes, some of these songs are catchy, but only because they're played eleventy billion times a day...!

Sorry, this is a long ranty moan, but please tell me I'm not alone or being a whiney little bitch...?

You are not alone.

I resorted to BBC Somerset. I kind of like it now - it's like listening to people chatting in a coffee shop with some music added occasionally

Keepaddingpets · 28/10/2019 15:57

It's hideous since they got rid of all the local shows. And why on earth have Amanda - wonder how long she'll be staying!!

sockittome123 · 28/10/2019 16:30

Radio 2 was playing in the dentist a couple of weeks ago and I surprised myself by actually quite liking it! Can't stand the local BBC radio where I am, though, something about the voices...

And yet the heart breakfast show has one of the highest audience figures

I can’t imagine how -it’s beyond dire since they took away the local presenters

sockittome123 · 28/10/2019 16:44

Heather I only use it as background noise when I'm getting ready to go out in the mornings because it's programmed into my daily schedule Grin

I gave up with Heart/Capital etc as they seemingly played the same music over and over..

Took a road trip to Scotland last year to tune into Radio 2 as it had good coverage and I loved it! Now won't listen to anything else.

woodhill · 28/10/2019 16:58

I used to love Heart in the 90s but not now. Bland and pappy music. I prefer Radio 2 some of the time or Absolute

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 28/10/2019 17:03

I gave up on Heart when they hired Amanda bloody Holden. Can't stand her.

ScreamingCosArgosHaveNoRavens · 28/10/2019 17:06

I can't stand breakfast shows that are nothing but people yakking on. They make me want to smash the radio!

Stravapalava · 28/10/2019 17:07

Me too! I listen to local radio or radio 4 nowadays. Local radio is running an annoying competition at the moment though!

GwenCooper81 · 28/10/2019 17:08

I switched to our local station when they employed Amanda Holden. Haven't listened to her inane voice on it since.

00100001 · 28/10/2019 17:09

I'm not the target audience for Heart/Capital

All that shouty laughter...noise... Awful music.

Reallybadidea · 28/10/2019 17:12

Don't get me started on Sian Welby. You can hear the wind whistling between her ears. Never heard such drivel Shock And now I sound like my mum Blush

letsdolunch321 · 28/10/2019 17:14

I switched from Heart in my local area to Nation radio - it is a mix of all music with very little adverts

babycatcher411 · 28/10/2019 17:18

Urgh. I hate the change.
I swapped from Capitol to Heart a few years ago as they did a morning presenter change and between that and the repetitive music I couldn’t stand it any more.

It feels like deja vu! I’m not a massive Amanda fan, I don’t find her entirely offensive but she does nothing for my ears. And then there’s that horrible horrible fake American sounding news presenter with accompanying annoying flash news music. Nope. Nope. Nope!

Thankfully atm I don’t listen much as I’m on mat leave, so not commuting!

Papergirl1968 · 28/10/2019 17:19

I now listen to Heart 80s. No presenters, just music - and ads unfortunately. But when the ads are on I move over to Heart 70s or Heart 90s.

FranklySonImTheGaffer · 28/10/2019 17:21

I used to skip between capitol, heart and kiss. Dropped kiss first, then capitol. Now can't stand heart - I like Jagger and Woody talking about Cardiff and places I knew.

I now alternate between radio 2, Nation and playing music on my phone

icelollycraving · 28/10/2019 18:35

When they say it is the biggest audience ever, is that more than when it was local ones added together? I don't like or dislike her.
My dh sent an email saying he wouldn't listen again, that made me really laugh as he doesn't have a strong opinion about anything Grin I said I don't think they will worry they have lost you, she won't be there long.
He has never forgiven her after Les Dennis!

sockittome123 · 29/10/2019 19:45

Bloody Jamie Theakston (sp?) joined in with the yelling "YEAH YEAH YEAH" this morning... grr...

FattyCutty · 29/10/2019 20:10

I really don't understand this need for more than one person hosting a show, there's so much screeching and noise going on you can hardly understand what's going on. I only listen to my local station now.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 29/10/2019 20:13

I gave up too... Nation Radio all the way for me now. I miss the old Heart North & Mid Wales Breakfast Show, though

MrsMozartMkII · 29/10/2019 20:18

That's another one off my list then. I've still not found something to replace Radio 2 in the morning - Zoe Ball is like listening to a mad woman on speed, which is just far too much noise for that time of day.

Am a grumpy old witch when I can't have a radio show that just talks a bit (and is reasonably intelligible), has some interesting stuff, and some actual music! And no screeching. Please, no screeching.

plominoagain · 29/10/2019 21:56

Binned Heart too . I used to listen to it all the time because it crossed the four counties on the way to work , but when they lost the regional presenters and replaced them with Miss Shouty Knickers , I channel hopped my way over to LBC and Steve Allen , and I’ve always listened to our local station at home .
