Wrong places

I’m well known in my family for putting odd things in weird places..handbag in tumble dryer, freshly baked rice pudding in the shoe cupboard that sort of thing, but this morning has been an absolute twatfest. I’ve tried to put rubbish in a bin that wasn’t there, tried to turn on a light switch that doesn’t exist, put both pairs of glasses on at same time (that made me nauseous) nearly took a sleep aid pill instead of daily vitamin and put an empty tin of beans in the dishwasher! I’m going out in about an hour and I’m worried I’ll end up in john o’groats instead of Sainsbury’s 😂

John O’Groats is lovely this time of year.....far nicer than Sainsbury’s.

I’m always doing stuff like that! I lost the cheese once. Found it about three months later in the cracker tin.

You are not alone.

I've lived in my house for 25 years, and repeatedly try to turn on a light switch that does not exist and never has.

It’s usually a couple of times a month but this morning just seems to hate me. If I do end up in John o’groats with my knickers on my head waving someone else’s cat I shall take a pic at the sign and post it on here

I once worked with a girl who came in one morning late, saying she'd lost her car keys.

She regaled us with all the places she'd looked and how hard she'd searched, and then said 'and where do you think I found them in the end?'

I just said 'the fridge,' and she gaped at me and said 'how did you know?'

I pretended to be psychic, but really it was exactly where I found my car keys a week or so before...

We moved our boiler to the kitchen 8 years ago and EVERY DAY I look at it as it's where the clock used to be!

I am also well known for forgetting to cook some element of a meal or leaving one thing in the oven. It is not uncommon for us to finish dinner and then one of the DCs asks why there is still garlic bread in the oven!

You mean the fridge wasn’t the first place she looked? First port of call for anything Ive lost..

Gosh I'm so pleased this isn't just me. I thought I was losing my marbles

Zaphodsotherhead · 28/10/2019 12:44

@morporkia the reason I knew they'd be in the fridge was because she mentioned she'd been shopping before she went home.

I did exactly the same thing. Unpacked shopping, car keys in the fridge with the shopping (well, everything on the work surface was 'to go in the fridge') and then had to search the next day for them.

It's so funny how our minds can go blind like this!

CornishCreation · 28/10/2019 14:26

I have turned the car around and started to drive home before as I thought I'd forgotten my car keys! Not sure how far I got before I looked down and saw them in the ignition.

morporkia · 28/10/2019 16:36

I went out and I came back. Stuff happened in between but I think I stayed in the right country. Phew. It’s tea time now. Wish me luck. I might end up cooking my new hat and pouring gravy on my head

i once went to the oven to take out the pizza - no pizzas there, turned out i'd put them in the fridge instead! wasnt just one pizza either!!

I put my hair straighteners in the fridge once.

Have no idea what I was thinking on that one Grin
