Undercover Boss-How do they not know?

Watching now on C4.

Surely these people must have an inkling? Today's boss has THE worst wig ever and is useless at everything (textbook).
And how come all the employees they get put with have massive sad back stories?

There’s been quite a few times when they do know and confront them and the boss tells them to keep quiet. Plus some of the people’s reactions when it’s revealed makes me think they did know really.

I suppose if they know the format of the show it’s in their interests to keep quiet, since they may be rewarded in some way during the reveal.

Today's boss introduced himself by his real name to employee no.1 and busted himself immediately.

Very ocassionally the boss looks way better with the makeover but generally it's loads of bad wigs and weird clothes.

I'm sure I watched one years ago where the employee taught the boss ways of stealing from the company and was sacked.

I wouldn't recognise the top people in my organisation. However, a camera crew would definitely set my Spidey senses tingling.

I think they do know in most cases ,I was watching one where the CEO of Build a Bear did one all the employees where rewarded hugely for their.efforts I don't think they would pick john/ Jane Smith who does the absolute minimum to keep their jobs ,but don't have any great passion for the company and haven't done anything remarkable they are always going to go for the innovative hard working employees who have a sob story!

I watched one where the lead lead singer off hootie and the blowfish pretended to be a roadie and helped struggling musicians.
