My foot popped

Just looking for any advice really. Two weeks ago when I stood up in the morning I felt a distinct popping sensation in the arch of my foot, the top part, and also a sharp pain. Like a good citizen I consulted NHS website advice and it said most foot pain resolves within two weeks. Well it hasn't so now I've booked an appointment for two weeks time which is the earliest I can get.

It's not a massive deal but I'm curious as to what it is. It's painful all the time but not unbearably so, maybe a 1-2 on the scale, there's a slight swelling on the arch itself and my foot is kind of collapsing in a bit. I mean I can feel that more of my foot is in contact with the floor than previously.

Anyone else had this? What was it? I've got to wait two weeks until I talk to anyone who can advise what's going on with my foot so hit me.

Absolutely no idea, but a friend had something like this and it was plantar fasciitis. Though for her it was very painful indeed. Hope you get it sorted!

Thanks for replying. As far as I can work out it's not plantar fascitis because the pain is at the top of my arch whereas with pf it would be at the bottom. This is why it's so frustrating googling because as soon as you type in arch it talks about the bottom of the arch.

You might have a teeny tiny fracture on one of the metatarsals? But the pain level would be way higher in my opinion if you had. Are you able to walk? How bad is it to put your weight on your toes (stand up on the ball of your foot)?

Your arch fell?

Fallen arches?

My first thought would be tendon/ligament rupture which can be associated with fracture. I’d go to minor injuries, if you leave some things too long they don’t heal properly/can’t be repaired.

Sounds like collapsing arches to me
