What would happen if someone was too unwell to check out of a room / holiday stay?

I'm not in this situation, just curious.

I had norovirus last week and couldn't leave the bathroom for 48 hours.

What would happen if you were in a hotel room / caravan holiday and taken unwell but the room was needed for the next guest?

I work in a hotel.
Youd be transferred to another hotel if we didnt have any way to move you to another room here. Generally one that's local.and at the same price range as what you've already paid for

Transferring someone would mean moving them. What if they were physically too sick to move? I've always wondered this too. Once thought I might be in this position after suffering a crippling hangover in a premier inn 😂

Thank you @12carrots but I meant if the sick personal was unable to move. But you needed the room for the next guest.

Sadly yes, if we needed the room for another booking and were unable to move anyone else or transfer anyone else, you'd still have to move hotels. Most of our business comes from business people during the week attending conferences, so if we needed the room for them, they would take priority. If you physically couldn't move we'd have a doctor come in to assess you and help you move to a hospital/another hotel.

Personally I would look into moving another guest- generally you find theres one or two regulars who dont mind a free upgrade to another hotel

I was in this position as the arriving guest. The person who had my room was too ill to move. I got given a room at another nearby 5 star hotel and taxis for the duration of my stay. I was far happier to move than get a germ ridden room. Grin
