Beasts of Balance. Expensive but so much fun

Isitme13 · 26/10/2019 21:56

Yes to sushi go and donuts. Monopoly deal might be worth a go too.

Othello
Backgammon
A book of general card games - never too young to start learning rummy/gin rummy, whist etc (could start with easier ones and build up, but I was definitely playing rummy by 5)

Isitme13 · 26/10/2019 21:57

Too many monkeys also fun for a quick game

Nicpem1982 · 26/10/2019 21:57

We have monopoly deal but have not played it yet will get a book of card games for a regular deck

Pictionary
Operation
Guess who

Isitme13 · 26/10/2019 22:01

Game of life can be a laugh
Enchanted forest is a good game but can be a bit long

Rainbowqueeen · 26/10/2019 22:04

Love letters
The gubs

KickBishopBrennanUpTheArse · 26/10/2019 22:26

Any of the orchard games.
Dd liked balloon lagoon at that age.
Kerplunk
Downfall
Connect 4
Guess who
Dominoes
Happy families
Draughts
Yes no game
Matching pairs game
Top trumps (warning - it's boring!)

Fortunately I can see into our games cupboard from where I'm sitting!

I've been playing cranium family edition tonight with a 17 & 14 yo. It says 8+ but I think we've had it since dd was not much older than 5. It's been popular throughout.

DateLoaf · 26/10/2019 22:34

Agree with trying other card games and I find that anything with a bit of sneakiness or deception often seems to go down pretty well at this age. Have you tried Liar’s Dice/Perudo?

AliMonkey · 26/10/2019 22:47

Rat a tat cat was our next favourite after sleeping queens. Also rummikub, Top Trumps, Ruckus (we had the Deadly 60 version but lots of other themed ones) and card games like racing demon. We had lots of people recommend Exploding Kittens but could never get into it!

Winesalot · 26/10/2019 23:00

Love sleeping queens.

Ticket to ride
Frog juice
Zeus on the loose

memaymamo · 26/10/2019 23:57

Sushi Go is great and the pictures are so cute
Zeus on the Loose is great for numeracy
Exploding kittens is good but not till she's older. The pictures and humour are a bit weird for a 5 year old.
Enchanted Forest is a big favourite here though it's not a card game.

Nicpem1982 · 27/10/2019 05:36

She's getting enchanted forest for Christmas from her uncle I'm quite looking forward to that.

Rat a tat cat she had for her bday and really enjoys.

I'll leave exploding kittens for a while 😊 were going to a board game shop today so I'll have a look at some of the others mentioned.

Thank you!
