Which reusable pads/knickers for dd?

Mrspimplepopper · 26/10/2019 10:07

Just as the title says really, which pads/knickers are best for young girls? My dd is 10 and I want to be prepared. So have started to look into what's on offer

I want to offer suggestions and advice to her but I'm a long time menstrual cup user so am out of touch with what other reusables are available

Thank you in advance

I would highly suggest watching preciousstarspads on YouTube. She was into the reusable pad/menstrual cup game back when she was a young teenager.

Watch the videos in her 'Everything about cloth pads' playlist.

Perhaps be open to the idea of disposables sometimes as I remember periods being really hard to manage in school and I'm not sure having a wet bag with used pads in my bag would have helped. I was so acutely embarrassed about my periods and used to hate the idea that someone would spot them in my bag.

In terms of actual brands I personally like Baba and Boo but Cheeky Wipes do a nice starter kit www.cheekywipes.com/organic-cotton-cloth-sanitary-pads/when-will-i-get-my-first-period-celebration-starter-kit.html

Look at earth wise girls.

They do a special box that has a selection.of pads in it and a sample.of disposable but eco friendly pads.

They also do bundles of .mixture of pads so you can try out a few.

Modibodi pants get alot of recommendations here too.

I wouldn't go for cheeky wipes. The cotton.pad I bought didn't really seem to sit right/wings fold round properly . And the monkey pads were backed with a material.that meant it slides around really badly.

The type of pads cheeky wipes sell are a lot cheaper if you buy them straight from Aliexpress.

iirc its something like £1.20 for a pantyliner

I would suggest disposables until she gets used to her periods (towels and period knickers). Once she’s gotten used to them then go for reuseables.
