Affordable online dating apps

Has anyone got any experience of any affordable dating apps? All the ones I've looked at so far have said it costs an amount per month but ask for it all at once. I can't pay a lump sum upfront as I'm on a budget. Any recommendations would be gratefully received.

Plenty of fish is free. You get what you pay for though. Quite a good one for dipping toes in, if you sift through all the winks and heya's there's a few folk.

Plenty do free first month. From what I remember Match, Guardian, Telegraph (yes Telegraph, don't knock it til you've tried it) sometimes do deals (three days free etc). They certainly will near or after Christmas.

I am probably a bit out of touch now.
