I bought a gift online as a present but it doesn’t work. It’s not expensive (around £50) but it was for a child’s birthday. I’m trying to send it back but originally the company said it had to be in its unsealed box (it was only once I set it up with batteries that I discovered it didn’t work) and now they say they will accept it but will deduct 18% as a restocking fee. Surely this isn’t legal for a faulty product. Has anyone had similar and can advise?

No it’s not legal if the product is faulty. I’d expect them to pay return postage too!
