EU extension

I'm currently watching the bbc news channel, sad I know, they're taking about the 27 EU leaders continuing to talk about whether to grant it over the weekend.

How exactly do they talk about it from 27 different countries?
Do they have conference calls, or emails back and forth or is it as easy as a WhatsApp group? 🤷

And is it ironic the language they'll probably use is English

Not really Juliet, English is a worldwide language but because officials employed in the EU are expected to know more than one language, they may also use French or German, and be accepted.

Those of us still in the EU who do not want to leave just wish you guys would get on with it now and let us get back to other business.

For what it's worth I'm certainly fed up with the whole debacle but I personally cannot do anything about itConfused and neither can anyone else on mumsnet. Unless of course Boris secretly has an account Grin

I also wish someone would have the balls to stand up and say actually this is just too difficult we'll stop the whole shebang but that's not going to happen either.

I considered putting light-hearted in the title but thought the talk of WhatsApp groups and the like would make this self evidentHmm

Sorry Juliet - I think I've been watching too much BBC and C4 news - I understand how frustrating it is for you guys and my DH is from NI and my in-laws all live there so we will be acutely affected by all of this but have no vote in it!!!! Again, sorry I thought you were a Brexiteer saying that imagine these stupid EU people cannot even discuss something in a language other than ours. I see that was not the case.

English is a dominant language because of the "great empire" forcing most its conquests into speaking it, making the native languages illegal ... From a non bitter, English speaking Irishwoman Grin

They have agreed they will grant an extension, the question now is how long for.

There was an eu ambassadors meeting this morning where it was discussed, and on Monday there is a summit where it will be finalised.

JulietTango · 25/10/2019 12:56

That's ok, i understand your frustration and i would think most of the country share it, irrespective of their view.

Oh and at the meetings and summits they have translators as required, so whatever is discussed can be translated into the language you prefer, hence why you will sometimes see them wearing head phones.

JulietTango · 25/10/2019 12:58

Okay that's quite clever
