Missmummy86 · 25/10/2019 06:52

Hello all ive just found out im having a baby girl 😊 im made up but now struggling with a name, i lost my brother suddenly a couple of months ago he was only 30 😢 i was so close to him im heart-broken he knew i was pregnant and i did want to use his name for the baby as a middle name but obviously the name garry wont work for a middle name for a girl 🤔 has anyone any ideas on how i could change it to make it suitable? I like the name amelia for a first name.
Thank you

Sorry for your loss Flowers

Gari is apparently a girl's name. Carrie is quite similar. Or something that uses part of the name, like Garnet? Or Arya?

Bit of a wildcard, but I know a man called Garen who constantly gets asked if he's called Garry, and it's apparently a boy's name but I think it would work beautifully for a girl! As would Garenne!

Amelia Garen Surname sounds lovely!

Garenne is the common French word for 'rabbit warren' so perhaps not.

A quick Google shows Gary has a meaning "spear".

Odaine has the meaning "elfin spear" and Rhonda has the meaning "good spear"

So a nod, without

My name is Stella ( means star) . If you think your brother is now a star 🌟. Just a thought.

Im sorry for the loss of your brother. You could create a link by meaning not sound? Gary means spear so for example Rowena can be translated to white spear, Odile and Odette mean elfin spear, or you could use Geri / Geraldine (which has the same origins as Gary).

Use it as a middle name anyway. No one ever knows anyone else’s and it’s only ever used on paperwork.
