How do you decide what to charge for your time?

I am a folk artist, and have been asked by a school to come in and teach a few lessons, and then supervise a project, a few students at a time, until all students have completed the piece.
They want me to quote for my travel and time. Materials have already been cleared.

Travel is easy, as I can calculate those costs, but it is hard to figure out what to charge for my time. I want to give the school the lowest price I can, but at the same time, I work hard at what I do, and I need to make it pay.
If you teach art, or music, or something comparable, how do you set your rates?

Also to clarify, I have taught people one on one before, but not for a group as large as this (close to 70)
