who pays?

Just a quickie- if another parent last minute invited your child out with them and their family to an activity, what do you do about money? Do you offer to pay? insist they take the money? Or just ignore the subject and let them go off without mentioning it? I am so socially awkward! also have only got a few quid at home so would have to go out in the rain to get a tenner to offer them or it would be shrapnel and probably an insult! thanks!

I would always offer. It would probably be declined (I would decline too) but I do think you should offer.

Offer money, if they refuse then just refuse their offer to pay when you take their child out.

I always offer to pay and vice versa for children's friends who come out with us. I never accept the money though and just tell the parent to give them a few pounds in spending money.
I always make sure I buy them an ice cream/sweets/lunch but, if there is a gift shop or the like, then I see it fair that the child have a few pounds etc.
I send my children on these days out with £7.50 - £15.00 depending on what the activity is. Hope that helps.

If I couldn't offer cash because I didn't have any I'd make arrangements for a trip with the child at a later date which involved me paying for stuff.

pisspants · 24/10/2019 14:40

thanks all. I just went to get some cash so have it now to offer

@pisspants knowing my luck I'd offer to give them some money and they would bloody take me up on it and I wouldn't have it Grin
