Kept getting cramp in my right leg, lots of pain, can’t walk far without my foot going numb. Hurts and goes numb when I stand for any length of time and the cramp wakes me up through the night. One doctor said sciatica I disagreed as no shooting pain only pain in my lower back and saw another doctor who sent me for an MRI on my lower back. Had this on 3 October and no result yet.

Is this a usual time to wait for an MRI result?

I waited weeks (12 weeks iirc) for my MRI results. Had a cervical spine and head scan because of suspected MS (turns out it wasn’t, but was damage to a nerve).

I was told at the time anything from 2 weeks to 16! There was some explanation about the results having to be checked by various people before finally being sent to the consultant, but that might have just been in my particular case.

Yeah I think it takes a minimum of 2-3 weeks OP in my experience if it's anything urgent they call well before that.

If you have a follow up appointment in a consultant's clinic they will likely discuss it at that, or will write to you to advise the results. I think it's that bit that often takes the time tbh. I don't generally get clinic letters until a month after roughly.

If you're concerned perhaps you could call and enquire?

Thanks to you both. I was told too about various people checking it. Will phone my GP if nothing comes by next week.
