Tell us your ghostly encounters or even make it up. We don't care as long as we get goose bumps.....

I don't have a terrifying story. But DH and I have both seen a man in RAF uniform standing in our living room doorway and I've also 'felt' someone walk behind me in one of the bedrooms. I was amazed when DH asked me if I'd 'seen anything weird' a few months after we moved here, as he is the least woo person I've ever known.

SapphireSeptember · 24/10/2019 00:36

I have two stories.

I was eight when my great-grandmother died. We were really close. I do not remember this happening, but my mum does. My nan was at the hospital with my nanny and phoned my mum in the middle of the night when she died. My mum got off the phone to see me standing there and told me my nanny had died. I told her I knew because she's been to visit me to say goodbye. I can only surmise I was sleepwalking. Not scary, just a bit woo. My niece lives with my mum and talks to people who aren't there, I like to think it's my nan (who died less than two months before she was born) or my nanny coming to visit. Smile

This one is spooky. I nipped out to get some milk from the petrol station near the flats I lived in and walked home via a path that runs alongside a park. (It was dark.) It felt like someone was following me but there was no one there. Got to the flats and the little bushes near the door rustled (no wind.) Got inside as fast as possible and hared up the stairs to my flat. Later I'm in the bathroom getting ready for bed and I think my ex is standing behind me, no one's there and I feel rather than see a shadow move behind me. That freaked me the hell out and that very night I cast a protection spell, which I think helped.

I used to frequent Pype Hayes Hall in Birmingham (back when it was a children's home) I stayed there a couple of nights and would NEVER set foot in there again. A book flung itself from the bookcase and hit me in the back. I was with someone else and they said it flew from the bookcase by itself. I also saw a ghost - I was drifting off to sleep and I opened my eyes and there was an old man hovering over me dressed in old fashioned clothes, smoking a pipe. He blew the smoke from his pipe onto me and I smelt it and then he disappeared in front of my eyes. I could not go back to sleep after that.

Not me but my Ddog .
When I was 7 we moved house and our normally very laid back pooch took quite a while to settle into the new house he would like on his bed for a few mins get up walk round , sniff the air pace about then go any settle , sometimes he would do this 2x /3x a day .
One day he stood at the bottom of the stairs and growled , not a low grumble but lips curled, teeth beared, hackles up, type.
He scared me , my Ddad tried to get Ddog upstairs but he refused to budge ( he normally slept under my bed )
It was two days before he could be persuaded to go up stairs and about a week after that before he was happy to go up.

SamBeckett · 24/10/2019 08:16

lie on his bed

Ddog slept under my bed , not my dad ! 🙄

Redshoesandtheblues · 24/10/2019 11:58

When I was about 15, I was alone in the house as my mum and brothers had gone out visiting. I went to bed and, as per my usual practice when on own, left my bedroom door ajar and landing light on.

Fell asleep. Got woken up to noise of various people climbing the stairs and whispering on the landing. I yelled that they weren't being very quiet or considerate and they'd woken me up.

I heard a softly spoken 'Sorry' and my bedroom door was closed. I went back to sleep.

Got woken up a few hours later by bro opening door, asking if I was ok as door shut, landing light off and they had just got back home.

Shock
Redshoesandtheblues · 24/10/2019 12:20

Same house. Studying at my desk - my back to the door- and I was aware of someone coming into room and standing behind me.

'What you after?', I say, thinking it one of my bros.
Silence.

Then a pair of hands rested on my shoulders and pressed down very hard.
Still thinking it was a DBro, I yelped and whirled round.

No one there.
The book I had been studying then got thrown off my desk and landed on my bed. A fair distance away.

I legged it.

bobstersmum · 24/10/2019 12:26

Red shoes you made that second one up!! Haha

Redshoesandtheblues · 24/10/2019 12:46

@bobstersmum No - both the truth. There is a third, but that was really freaky as bro saw it too.

Redshoesandtheblues · 24/10/2019 12:53

And I cant bear to have back to door.

Redshoesandtheblues · 24/10/2019 13:02

So, I try to rearrange where im sitting if Im at a desk.

Just bought a new desk and have to rearrange whole room, despite DH saying.....'it will work better here.'
I say I like to see the door. No matter what I'm doing.

PixieDustt · 24/10/2019 13:34

@Redshoesandtheblues I'm the same! None of my chairs are placed where my back will be against the door! The one time I did I was looking at myself in my phone camera to see what my new glasses looked like. Didn't take a picture but went to swipe off the camera app to see a big built man and an old women standing to the right side of me, I think it was my grandad and nan -shudder-

Also my mums friend had cancer, walking down the stairs casually when I see by the front door some heels. I thought random why are there heels there no one really wears them in this house. My mum got a phone call 10 minutes later to say that friend has passed away. Never knew at the time but mum said that friend always wore heels. Went back to check, no heels there!

I have a lot more but it would put me if someone I knew was on here 😳

Wagsandclaws · 25/10/2019 16:59

I have loved in a Haunted house, so many things happened to me and various friends and family members.

Once when my Mum and I were leaving on the school run ( I was about 15 ) we both turned around to look back at the house ( it was quite rural with only a couple of neighbours ) and saw this large black mass leaning out through my bedroom window. Both turned to each other and said ' did you see that?'

When my dad died ( my parents got divorced and he stayed in the house whilst she MJ ed to somewhere smaller - this was when I was 28. My then DexH and I bought the house out from my two brothers, he worked away during the week and I do not know how I lived there knowing what I did about the stuff that used to happen by myself but I did!

So many things to tell and lots of witnesses, I'm very good at explaining things usually but voices mimicking mine when my mother was alone in the house babysitting Ect I just can't explain 🤷‍♀️

Wagsandclaws · 25/10/2019 17:00

*lived in a hunted house

Spied · 25/10/2019 17:07

Last night I was laid in bed reading.
Turned over to switch off my lamp and I just knew the lamp was going to switch off by itself. It did. I switched it back on so it wasn't the bulb.
When I mentioned it today to do he told me he felt someone push him a few days ago when he walked to the bathroom and apparently he saw a man sized shadow stood watching him one night after an argument when he slept on the sofa.
He never thought to mention itShock

Redshoesandtheblues · 26/10/2019 16:40

My bro just mentioned the 3rd freaky incident, I referred to in previous post.
I'll try and explain in as best as i can but I'll do it from my view and their view.

My view - I woke up and saw a black dense curtain being circled around my bed. Like hospital curtains being pulled around.

I could see the ceiling and light from landing, but everything else was just black. I thought I was half asleep and thought no more.

Until a very white hand and arm stretched through the darkness near to my face ànd fully turned towards me.
I remember screaming and throwing myself against the farthest corner. Which wasn't far.

Bro's version.

He heard me screaming. Rushed in , but couldn't see anything in the area where my bed was. He said it was totally black. He screamed too.

He flipped light swìtch on, but still saw my bed covered in darkness.

Second bro rushed in , and dived straight into the darkness.
I had fainted, he pulled me out and got me out of room.
He said later, much later, it had taken all his strength to get me out of bed and he had never felt cold like it. Said it was chilling.

That's the short version.

One of brother's wont talk about it even now.

IceBearRocks · 26/10/2019 17:04

DS had spent his 12th night in PICU and started with diarrhoea so isolated into a room. I stood looking over him in the bed (it had been so stressful moving him on the ventilator that his heart rate kept dropping dramatically) ...out of the corner if my eye stood next to me was about a 5 year old boy with tousled brown hair in a striped long sleeved t shirt and Jean's. ...... looked again and he was gone...asked PICU nurse I saw in cafe a couple of days later had anything been seen and she described the child and explained how he passed as she was there.....we serving PICU for 19 days and two parents left without there children.

@Redshoesandtheblues that last story of yours really spooked me last night, I went to bed with the lamp on! Shock

theneverendinglaundry · 29/10/2019 19:25

Oh I love these threads!

When I was perhaps 7/8 we went on a family holiday, staying in an apartment. I shared a room with my sister. One night she was fast asleep and as I looked at her bed, I could see a white figure stood over her, swinging what looked like an axe at her neck. The face of that figure looked so full of rage.

I know it sounds cheesy, but to this day I can still remember it like it was yesterday!

edamismadebackwards · 29/10/2019 19:46

This is my mum's story. She was 17 and studying for exams. She was sitting at a table beside a large window when the phone rang.
She left the room to answer the phone, which was out in the hall. When she answered, there was nobody on it line and suddenly there was a huge explosion.

When she went back into the room where she was studying, there was an eight inch shard of glass impaled in the book she'd just been hunched over.

Sometging in the electricity substation at the back of their garden had exploded!

VenusClapTrap · 29/10/2019 23:07

A friend just moved into a house near mine and I went for a nosy the other day. It’s a very old house. While we were walking along an upstairs corridor it suddenly occurred to me to ask if the house was haunted. Not something I’d normally ask, certainly not about someone’s new home, and not when it’s a friend I don’t actually know that well! I wouldn’t say I had a weird feeling exactly, but something about the corridor inspired me to ask.

She looked a little odd and said “Funny you should ask that...” and then went on to tell me how her cleaner had heard someone upstairs and assumed it was her husband, only to find no one there when she went up. And on another day her babysitter had heard noises up there and gone up to tell the dc to get back into bed and stop roaming around, only to find they were fast asleep. Shock

Redshoesandtheblues · 30/10/2019 06:00

These are quite scary. Edam that is a real sense of someone looking after your sister.
