Going to a concert in my own

I'm going to a concert on my own tonight.

It's someone I loved as a angst filled teenager. I appear to be the only one I still know who felt this way

Has anyone else done this? It's seated so I'm worried I'll look weird on my own.

Cinema, even theatre doesn't bother me at all but I've never gone to a gig alone. It's seems more joiny-inny somehow.

44 years old and got a knot in my stomach!

Forgot to say, hope you are having fun!

I hope you got to meet him OP! I did, I went all fan girl over him Blush Glad you went. I always go to gigs on my own and as others have said, I actually prefer it these days. No one to worry about, can squeeze myself into a spot with a good view. Only problem is no one to save my space when I go to the loo! Not a problem if you are seated though. Did he play either of your songs?

Shannith · 23/10/2019 23:36

@FilthyBiscuit I had to leave before I could meet him to get sodding train home.

I would have been so fan girl it would have been embarrassing!

He played Ice Cream Girl and Weeping Wine so I am very happy. And Lost Weekend but that was a given.

I'm glad I went in my own. Could relive my teenage years full of posh, clever boys with drinking problems and a perchant for pretentious poetry without the embarrassment that it's really due Smile

This is odd as the only gig I have ever been to on my own (around 20 years ago) was also Lloyd Cole Smile Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did!

Lovely evening at my gig too, glad you had a good time @Shannith!

Seems like there is a small section of Mumsnet that go to Lloyd Cole concerts in our own.

I actually have found my very small tribe!

If only we'd known, we could have gone together. Although I suppose we would not have been the Mumsnetters who go to Lloyd Cole concerts alone then.

@clary glad you had a good time.

I frequently go to gigs by myself. I love it. Can really get into the zone by yourself.

Shannith · 24/10/2019 00:36

@Smokiesings I wish I'd seen him 20 years ago. You are so lucky. Still love him.

I've been to two gigs on my own, (Evanescence) and I've got two more lined up (Lacuna Coil next month and Evanescence + Within Temptation in April.) It's fine. I actually prefer going on my own as I can suit myself when it comes to getting into London (which is where I go for gigs) and wandering around/getting something to eat. (This has become true of a lot of things since splitting from my ex.) Smile
