What do you appreciate more now you're older

For me it's getting up early and enjoying the morning. When I was younger I would stay up late and sleep all morning. Now I find it really enjoyable to be up early and get out to walk the dogs and enjoy a nice sky! Seems to get the day off on a productive foot and makes me feel like I have a lot more time during the day.

Other things - a good coffee and taking care of my health.

I think I must have been old before my time, as I've always preferred a nice pub to a club, loathe dancing and can't stand tottering about in heels.

I have grown to appreciate:

Solitude
Quiet
Knitting
Holidays in places that aren't too hot

Quiet holidays with my mum. Countryside. Getting up early on weekends.

No homework!!! Grin too old for my own, too young for my kids school homework

Cloudyyy · 23/10/2019 11:44

Good coffee and good wine
Quiet nights in with my husband and a takeaway
I’ve always been a morning person though

Exercise. I used to say, endorphins, what endorphins? Now I get it.

My own company.

Boundaries. Never used to appreciate that you could set boundaries.

Being less open. I used to over share. People unfortunately take what you think is harmless info and use it against you later. Particularly relevant with colleagues.

Not being in debt.

A steady loving, kind relationship with no drama. When I was younger I thought that volatile relationships meant passion and ‘real’ love (the type of relationship modelled by my parents).

Tbh I’ve think I’ve always known these things but now I can do what I want not worry about what others think.
