Does anybody else use shampoo as a body wash ?

A few days ago I was in the bath and noticed I was out of shower gel of any kind, DP said he would pop to the shop but comes back with Dove shampoo!
I thought sod it I'll use it for now. Well I also used it the next day and then tonight and I can't get over how soft my skin is.
It has got to be the shampoo as my moisturiser I put on after never leaves my skin like this.
However just had a quick look on google and you shouldn't really use shampoo as it will be slimy on the body, hard to rinse off and has chemicals in that are good for washing hair not really for your body but it's not the end of the world.
Wondering does anybody else do this and also think their skin is super soft?
I may continue to use it just because of this effect

I do all the time!

TreacherousPissFlap · 22/10/2019 22:11

DH has done this for years and actually, now I come to think of it, has extremely soft skin Confused

JellyTots2009 · 22/10/2019 22:19

It must definitely be the shampoo!

If I am washing my hair in the shower I just wash my body with the shampoo suds, absolutely don't bother to get shower gel out as well.

Lwmommy · 22/10/2019 22:25

I do, but then I use kids 2in1 shampoo, herbal essences raspberry and almond so I smell like a bake well tart Grin

haverhill · 22/10/2019 22:35

I don’t but I did use Dove hand soap as shampoo once and my hair was gorgeous!

HarrietSchulenberg · 22/10/2019 22:39

Yes but mine is a solid bar shampoo and I CBA faffing with different bars in the shower. Does the job beautifully.

StarlightLady · 23/10/2019 07:03

I do when I’m holiday or away for work. ‘Never noticed any difference. At the end of the day, it’s all detergent. I use hair conditioner for shaving my legs, pits and bits.

MrsT1405 · 23/10/2019 07:55

I shower after a swim at the pool and just take one bottle of shampoo and use that. I have a good scrub down twice a week at home as I feel the shampoo leaves me in need of an exfoliation.

Puta · 23/10/2019 07:59

All shampoo and body wash is basically just fairy liquid. When I was v v skint years ago I used to use cheap washing up liquid for everything: head, arse, plates.

Teacakeandalatte · 23/10/2019 08:06

Don't do this with Volumising Shampoo it will give you a thicker, full body.

Heymummee · 23/10/2019 08:10

I’ve done this plenty of times! It does make your skin really soft, but I can’t imagine it’s good to do long term. If you regularly exfoliate to get anything that the shampoo leaves on your skin off, I don’t see what the problem is.

YippeeKayakOtherBuckets · 23/10/2019 08:13

Always have. Shampoo from head to toe and then conditioner if I’m shaving.

Dh always amuses me with his lotions and potions, mainly because he’s essentially bald but still uses different products for hair and body.

Ginfordinner · 23/10/2019 08:13

I just use bars of soap. Shower gel and shampoo leave a film on you skin so places like armpits never get properly clean.

Blibbyblobby · 23/10/2019 08:18

Another solid shampooer here. If I'm travelling / gym-ing I use the solid bar for hair and body rather than carry two.

Grimbles · 23/10/2019 08:23

As shampoo is meant to clean the skin on your head, theres no real reason why you cant use it to clean the rest of your skin 🤷‍♀️

Rosere · 23/10/2019 08:53

Have done if I'm stuck. I do use shampoo to hand wash my bras though. I figure it's gentle enough for my head, it's going to be gentle on my boobies 😂

penisbeakers · 23/10/2019 09:11

@puta LOLLLLL

penisbeakers · 23/10/2019 09:12

@teacakeandalatte - I have always wanted a bigger arse, might have to try this.

redchocolatebutton · 23/10/2019 09:14

I do, though prefer to use bar soap on pits and bits.

but dh doesn't unless the bottle says 'shampoo and body wash'
but he is the type who can't use kitchen cleaner in the bathroom either or use body lotion on hands Hmm

user1493494961 · 23/10/2019 09:21

Sometimes, I think it's probably all the same.

MsRinky · 23/10/2019 11:18

Bar soap on pits, bits and feet, shampoo suds on hair and rest of body. Obviously.

jackparlabane · 23/10/2019 11:21

Take two bottles into the shower? Not me! (I do use shampoo and conditioner, but the shampoo suds clean the rest of my body just fine as long as its simple cheap shampoo like Alberto Balsam - posh brands leave some sort of residue that's slimy)

OpheliaBee · 23/10/2019 11:22

I just use the suds from washing my hair on my body. Unless I’m not washing my hair... and even then it’s still shampoo because I view shower gel as a bit of a con.

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 23/10/2019 11:23

I'm really not sure there's a whole world of difference between shampoo and shower gel other thank the marketing. Happy to be proved wrong.
