Where to go for the weekend?

Me, DP and DS(3) want to go away for the weekend (ok, DS doesn't really get a say in it Grin), but I need some ideas where to go and what's good to see! I wanted to get away in the next week or so, even though the weather isn't great.

We live in northwest England, I don't really want to drive more than a couple of hours away really, so I'm looking for inspiration and recommendations please lovely people! We like outdoors stuff, DS loves playing in the woods and exploring (he also loves camping but I'm a bit of a wimp in cooler weather so it's glamping as a minimum for me!), so rural ideas would be great if anyone has anything?

Go to Chester and do a day at Crockyland.
Ice cream farm. Tatton Hall. Delamere. Job done.

Ooh that's a good idea, I hadn't thought of that neck of the woods, thank you!

The weather is so changeable that why don't you do a city decently and properly? Save the camping/glamping until it's nice again.

If you haven't recently, I'd do Liverpool if I were you.

I am biased as I have just seen a load of photos from a friend who did Liverpool with their small child and they look to have had an amazing time.

PS Snowdonia is grim with a pre schoolers when it's not high season.

Kielder forest in Northumberland?

VelociraptorRex · 22/10/2019 21:20

I did think Kielder, lots to do and see, but I'm struggling to find somewhere to stay! Liverpool is fab but I was there the other week, the idea of taking the toddling terror fills me with fear!

You could stay here for Kielder?

BubblesBuddy · 23/10/2019 08:02

Northumberland for the castles! Go to Hadrian’s wall and Tynemouth. There should be places to stay somewhere!
