Is this a management style?

Is any of the following a management style that I'm not aware of?
Taking the opposite position on almost everything, even when it's clearly a mad course of action, then reverting to my suggestion without acknowledging that that is what is happening

Making claims that aren't true, such as 'we have a policy on x' (we don't). Blatantly almost lying to themselves as well as me?

Evading Answers in emails. Such as 'can we do z', answer 'I presume that x is the way it happened last year?' I respond 'yes', 'I am content providing xyz conditions' and this just goes on forever.

It's sort of hard to describe.

And how do I manage a manager like that? It's really stressing me out

Or maybe I'm just a nightmare employee and I don't realise it

I've got a manager a bit like this. I think it's about throwing her weight around and trying to keep anyone junior to her in their place. She's been cutting with me via email several times and in person for no reason whatsoever.

She likes to keep other workers at a far distance. Email example, "I will be covering x with clients next week. Please ensure you go over this with them too in your own contact time." Me: "Thanks Annie, I haven't broached x with our clients yet so thank you for the reminder I will ensure its covered." Her reply: "As I stated in my email, I will be covering it next week."

Also me passing her in the corridor, "Morning Annie!"

Her " I'm busy and I can't speak." Whilst holding her hand up in my face.

I was just walking past her in the corridor ffs! I didn't want a conversation, was just being polite.

She thinks she's "assertive" and is "protecting her boundaries" and "communicating in a succinct manner".

I think she's rude and Regards herself and her time as more important than they actually are.

She has done alot of training in management and communication which she takes very literally and I think it's made her manner more unreasonable and robotic. Maybe it is a management style.

She's always creating dramas and scenarios that haven't happened and emailing "It has come to my attention that x happened. I must make it absolutely clear that this is completely against our policies and we must adopt a strategy of bla bla bla..."

When you dig deeper you find out that nothing happened or she got the really wrong end of the stick.

That sounds out and out rude canthingschange35 and I think your face sums it up! Just 'what?!'

This person is actually quite sophisticated socially, well he thinks he is but as you say quite transparently deploys well worn management techniques. I'm just not sure what he's playing at with me... 🤷‍♀️

Maybe they're just arses 🤷‍♀️
