I originally posted in March about my dodgy boiler, it had broken 3 times within 2 months and the local company told me it needed fixing with a new one.
Being a low income owner occupier single parent however £2k wasn’t going to magically appear in a shower of fairy dust. So I applied for an eco scheme grant. I was told it would be 2 months approx from application to fitting. Not ideal as by now it had packed in completely but better than no option at all.
Unfortunately I am still waiting 7 months later, no heating and no hot water, no electric shower and one gas fire. The energy company has completely cocked up. I had my first survey in April, then despite having all my financial information nothing happened. I just kept being told it’s with audit ring back in a week. Then in August I was told they needed further info about home ownership. As they had my mortgage account details (with my name on) and my current account information showing mortgage payments this was a surprise. I dutifully supplied the land Registry document the same day. And waited....
September and they tell me that the survey has expired!! Having just been off for 6 weeks (work in a school) having to take a half day fresh into the new term was not great. However booked new survey.
New survey says boiler can’t go into the existing location, quotes for an underpowered boiler that isn’t suitable for baths (I researched the manufactures website) and quoted £70 more than the original contribution.
I challenged it and had the original boiler recommendation upheld. So it was resubmitted for audit. Guess what?? It failed as the stupid idiots had not put in the cost to repair/replace ratio, put the wrong date on it and forgot to put the paperwork in from the survey.
I had complained in August and the day before the last audit was due to be completed they offered me £60 as a ‘full and final resolution’ despite offering no explanation at all about what the fuck had gone wrong.
Well given the audit failed I emailed the CEO, my MP and the complaints dept and suddenly I have an area manager looking after my case. He went on holiday last week and I was assured that the mistakes have been fixed and it would be resubmitted on Monday 14th. Had a phone call Wednesday from his deputy telling me they are anticipating a result by Friday.
No phone call Friday. I ring today and the audit was submitted on Thursday 17th!!! Not the Monday.
Am so at the point of screaming about the inadequacy of the system and the sheer impotence I feel about being able to move this process forward. I don’t care about compensation I just want a warm house!!!
Sorry thats super long, any suggestions about how to put a bomb under their backsides and get things moving would be appreciated.
