We are off to Rome for 5 days.. We've been before so won't do all the same touristy stuff again.. Any tips for non standard stuff to do?

Food tour! We did one and it was a highlight of our stay.

Aaahhh I love Rome! We've just got back from a 5 day break there, mine and DH fourth time and DD first. If I was to go again I'd be looking for more unusual things to do too.

On my list would be ...

A day trip to the seaside at Ostia. Apparently it's an hour by train.

I'd research a really good food tour.

Have a blow out lunch at Roscioli with lots of wine then maybe the Italian version of a siesta sleep for an hour or too after!

I'd love to go up the Basillica dome ar the latest time possible to see the sunset from the top then after a spot of dinner nearby, walk across Piazza St Pietro at night when it's all lit up.

Aperativo on a swish rooftop bar. We nearly did this last week but decided not to as we couldn't find a bar/hotel where reviews said the service truly justified the £.

I'll watch your other replies OP so I can add to my bucket list!

Have an amazing time Smile

Just go a couple of streets back from the main places to find great food at much more reasonable prices.

One thing we did for the first time this trip was walk to the Coliseum at night. It was about 9.30 but lots of people about so we felt very safe. Took about 25 minutes from our apartment but well worth it to see it all lit up > goosebumps!
