I need a kick up the arse

Please Grin

I’m tired, there’s loads of elderly relative stuff happening which is horrible to deal with and I have a to do list as long as my arm. I have just started up my own business and it’s going ok but I really don’t love it. We’re renovating a house and I need to talk to loads of people and order stuff and paint and sort the electrician. I need to get off my backside and crack on but...I’m lying on the sofa drinking tea and wasting time on MN because it’s the first time I’ve had some time to myself in weeks.

How do you stay motivated when you’re constantly low-level tired and stressed? I’ve gone into full “can’t be arsed” mode and I don’t want to do anything. Help! Kicks up the arse gratefully welcomed.

You need the "can't be arsed moments" to re charge your own batteries.

Can you look at your to do list and pick of the bits you can do while sitting down, like googling the contractors needed and ordering the bits you need.

I can definitely order some stuff. I don’t want to talk to anyone though Grin especially not the electrician because he’s an arse (but highly recommended and also cheap ish). Moan moan moan! I think it can all be condensed down to, “I don’t want to do anything”. Gah!

I do need to recharge batteries but I also should be taking advantage of DS being at nursery so I’ve got a free day to actually reduce my jobs list instead of pretending it doesn’t exist.

Can you do any of the talking via text or email?

BadgertheBodger · 21/10/2019 12:00

Possibly! Thanks for trying to help Smile

I’ve decided to have an early lunch and then an hour with the laptop where I can hopefully bin off the easy jobs and do some work. Maybe that will prepare me enough to have actual conversations Shock wish me luck!

Set a timer for an hour and challenge yourself do as much as possible in that hour.

Themazeoflife · 21/10/2019 12:27

I do my housework with 20 minute timers and I have to finish before the timer goes off or I get annoyed with myself.

I did a bit. Collected DS, produced a tea with vegetables and then made adult tea as well. I’ve cleared my email backlog and sorted the electrician and now I’m in my PJs eating delicious ice cream Grin thanks for the friendly shove themaze
