Sinuses question

I'm not asking for health advice but I would like your opinion/experience on sinus infections.

I'm going to call my GP again this afternoon.

I've had a sinus infection for a bit over a week I think. Started with tooth pain and it was a few days before I figured out what it was. It started to get worse and I went to see my GP last Thursday. I've now got a rotten awful cold as well and I feel miserable.

GP was really helpful. He told me to (over)use Otrivin for 24 hours to clear my sinuses and call him back Friday to update.

Friday lunchtime I was feeling much better, sinus pain gone. I cut down on the Otrivin.

Saturday I felt absolutely rubbish. Sunday the sinus pain was back. And today.

How long should you expect it to last before your body clears it on its own (if it's viral?). I'm just not sure whether this is something that I could reasonably expect to go away on its own.

I used to haws veyy frequent sinus infections, so much so that I stopped taking antibiotics because I didn't want to rely on them. I started using Sterimar regularly to flush out sinuses and it worked even better than antibiotics. That's all I use now. I'd be giving it a week or so and then going to gp if it doesn't clear.

Thanks dusty. I should have mentioned that I've been using a saline spray as well. It seems to help a bit. How often do you use it though?
