Persistent cough - Toddler

My 14 month old DD started nursery at the end of August. 6 weeks ago she came down with a cold and accompanying cough. Nothing too severe - the worst of it was a couple of days at the beginning which coincided with my long weekend off work and she was fine to go back to nursery on the Monday. That first weekend she had a couple of doses of calpol, didn't feed or sleep well but has otherwise been fine and full of beans.

6 weeks later the cough is still hanging about. It's not particularly bad but does wake her in the night sometimes and she has been sick from coughing on several occasions. That's not especially unusual for her as she has a very sensitive gag reflex. I've had the same cold and my mild cough is also hanging about.

I haven't taken her to a doctor as it just seemed like a normal cold and she's not unwell, but given how long she's had it, should I be taking her to get it checked or is this normal for a toddler?

Thanks!

Take her to gp. 6 weeks is a long time and she is only little.
