DH and I have just been sorting through a bunch of old recipe books that we rarely use to go to charity when I came across two books of cake recipes with loads of little paper tabs in. Turns out the books were a Christmas present from my SIL to DH several years back, and she’d gone through them in advance marking all the cakes she wanted him to bake for her Grin SIL, while lovely, does have form for being a bit self-centred but I thought this was a particular masterstroke - she’d marked out LOADS of recipes (including occasional comments about wanting lots of something), the ingredients would have cost more than the books did! Sadly DH doesn’t bake these days so her massive quantities of cake were never delivered. Something about the mental image of her sitting there carefully going through his Christmas present deciding which recipes he’d undoubtedly be thrilled to make for her has really tickled me Grin

Oh that's unbelievably weird! Did DH bake a lot in the past? Was he good?

He says he went through a phase of baking so I can see where the idea of the recipe books cake from. The assumption that he would want to bake dozens of things for her consumption is a bit bonkers though, he was never exactly Mary Berry! We have been together 7 years, married for 5 and he’s only ever baked bread (in a bread machine!) in that time!
