DH and I have just been sorting through a bunch of old recipe books that we rarely use to go to charity when I came across two books of cake recipes with loads of little paper tabs in. Turns out the books were a Christmas present from my SIL to DH several years back, and she’d gone through them in advance marking all the cakes she wanted him to bake for her
SIL, while lovely, does have form for being a bit self-centred but I thought this was a particular masterstroke - she’d marked out LOADS of recipes (including occasional comments about wanting lots of something), the ingredients would have cost more than the books did! Sadly DH doesn’t bake these days so her massive quantities of cake were never delivered. Something about the mental image of her sitting there carefully going through his Christmas present deciding which recipes he’d undoubtedly be thrilled to make for her has really tickled me
