Driving test - lost theory paper help :(

I have my driving test tomorrow afternoon. I'm freaking out because I have somehow lost my theory test paper. I have kept it in a safe place since I got it and now it's not there and I cannot believe it. According to gov website, you MUST have it and they will cancel the test if you don't. I messaged my driving instructor asking what I can do about this, and he said not to worry and that I don't need it?
Has anyone ever been in this position before? Is my instructor talking rubbish? I'm just so gutted Sad

Both of my DD’s have had —numerous— driving tests over last few years and have not been asked once for the theory letter. Surely it’s all online for the DVLA now?

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 20/10/2019 19:14

Strike fail

unknownn · 20/10/2019 19:22

Well that's what I thought but it quite boldly states that they will cancel test if you don't have it so I don't know :( @NaturalBlondeYeahRight

But you have to input the theory test code when you book your test though. Why would you need it again on the day?

gamerchick · 20/10/2019 19:26

Unless I'm remembering wrong Grin I didn't need to take it when I had my test though

Skyechasemarshalontheway · 20/10/2019 19:31

I passed 5 months ago you definitely don't need it op.

Good luck tomorrow x

Mehmehmeh19 · 20/10/2019 19:32

I did exactly the same thing, messaged my driving instructor he said they won't ask and they didn't.

Good luck fingers crossed 🤞 let us know how you go.

PivotPivotPivottt · 20/10/2019 19:46

My test is next week and I've lost mine too. From what I read last night it's optional whether you take it with you but I'm going to contact DVSA tomorrow to get a replacement just to be on the safe side.

Good luck

PivotPivotPivottt · 20/10/2019 19:49

Can't remember what website I read that on but just had a look again and it's saying you need your theory certificate number to book your test Confused. I definitely haven't seen my paper in months, I moved house 6 months ago and lost it before then. I booked by test last month Confused

PivotPivotPivottt · 20/10/2019 19:50

Oh just read you can retrieve your number online I must have done this ignore me Blush

unknownn · 20/10/2019 20:04

Ok I'll try not to worry about it and hope for the best. Thanks everyone I'm very nervous haha

@PivotPivotPivottt well yes but it does say you need to order in a lost theory letter to bring with you or something. I guess I'll have to risk it

Good luck!

iklboo · 20/10/2019 20:12

DH is a driving instructor - you don't need it.

unknownn · 20/10/2019 21:08

Thanks @RolytheRhino
And ok phew. My instructor is a bit of an idiot so I don't really trust him lol. That's good to know thanks. @iklboo

How did your test go? Did you need your certificate? My instructor told me I do need it but I have just logged in online and managed to get the certificate number from there, too late for that for you now obviously!

unknownn · 21/10/2019 18:48

@PivotPivotPivottt I failed :( had 0 minors but I flipping left hand brake on as I pulled off and he failed me. Gutted. And nope no theory certificate was asked for at all, just provisional license. So I wouldn't worry about it at all :) wish u all the best! Don't leave your handbrake on lol😩 xx

Aww no that's absolutely gutting 😩. I can't believe they failed you just for that I have been watching mock tests on YouTube recently and someone done that and it got marked down as a minor. You obviously had a perfect drive other than that I feel gutted for you. Thank you for the wishes I'm not expecting to pass but I've been learning for far too long so need to bite the bullet and give it a go.

Runkle · 21/10/2019 19:24

Wow surprised he didn't give you the benefit of the doubt for that esp with zero minors?! Keep at it, you'll get there!

Mehmehmeh19 · 21/10/2019 19:33

Get it rebooked
Better luck next time

unknownn · 21/10/2019 20:09

i knowww😔 @Runkle @PivotPivotPivottt I think it's cause I left it on for sooo long without realising 🤦🏼‍♀️😂 all I can say though is I were convinced I made at least 4 other majors in the test, so couldn't believe I hadn't, I think they're real easy with a lot on the test. Even if you fail first time at least you know what to expect on the second.
