White pale skin through hydrocortisone!

My son has through the use of hydrocortisone 2 years ago remained with a patchy face (lighter patches) and they get worse in the winter (now). I spoke to the doctor and explained that he will grow out of it and dermatologist says the same or i could cover the healthy part with sun cream (all year long)! I done that all and nothing changed now i am scared his skin is going to remain this way. Please help or advise while i am waiting for second opinion. I was hoping to find things that could boost pigmentation remake but no success as of yet.

My DS had this and it did gradually disappear. I’m not sure it lasted as long as two years but I suppose the extent of the eczema and amount of steroids you need to use would make a difference.

I can imagine recovery being max a year but 2 years seems alot and no improvement infact its getting worse - not sure if he actually has eczema again or wat it is. The specialist told me at the time it could be 3 or 4 years which i cannot imagine to be correct..
