How has your pet brought joy to your life?

Inspired by a current miserable thread I thought I'd start one about how our pets bring us joy. Yes, I know it's probably been done to death but surely everyone loves a pet thread?

We got our lovely dog when going through infertility problems. We decided we wanted a break from the constant let downs and negativity and to focus on something positive

He is now 4 years old and I honestly don't know where we'd be without him. In that time which would have otherwise been filled with misery, he forced us out of bed, played with us, gave us big smiles and licks and is the cuddliest bear going.

My favourite joyous moment was also my darkest. We had just got news of no heartbeat after being elated and finally getting our first bfp. I sat on the toilet and sobbed my heart out. DDog loves socks. I mean...they are his favourite things ever. After a few minutes of self indulgent crying I looked up to find four socks at my feet and DDog sitting looking at me with the most concerned expression ever. He bought me his favourite things to cheer me up. He then launched himself at me (he's a lab), one paw on each shoulder and proceeded to lick my face and every tear away until I was laughing uncontrollably.

We are now happily 7 months pregnant but even now, when I sit on the toilet, I sometimes look up to find a sock, and he still occasionally launches at me while I'm sat there, just to check no more tears need licking away

Hit me with your joyous stories!!

My DDogs kept me sane through my divorce. I had to get out of bed in the morning to feed them and get out of the house to walk them. FilthyGirlDog spooned me in bed for a week after ExH left, she hadn't done it before and hasn't since. I love the bones of them for giving me routine while my life was in chaos.

My two dogs just loved me unconditionally. My cats love me but not quite so exuberantly.

dcat is dd2s' shadow, he has been a godsend for her, she was suffering from anxiety. She and dd1 had been mithering for a cat for years, we kept saying no, then dd1 found a tiny abandoned feral kitten who is still living with us a year later

My dog Maggie makes me so happy, just her smiley face brings me joy. So much so I’ve come off citalopram after 20 years. I say to my husband we should be more like Maggie, she doesn’t worry about work, money, Brexit etc, all she wants is one of us to throw a ball around and she’s happy.

This is a photo of her earlier this year on holiday in Cornwall. She may look all cute but 5 minutes earlier she’d stolen a scone from a tray at the bottom of a baby buggy. She’s not always a good girl!

My cat is wonderful. I am not always up to getting out, or moving around much due to pain, especially on my days off of work I have to spend a lot of time not doing a lot to recharge. Whenever I am in the house, my boy has to be within reach of me. He's not really one for sitting on anyone (unless it's cold), but if I'm having a bad day he seems to know and I get lots of soft little headbutts to the face and purring. If I'm on the sofa he sits on the back of it leaning against my back, or he'll lay pressed up against my leg. He sleeps on the foot of my bed with his own blanket, though he'll burrow under the duvet and sleep behind my knees if it gets too cold.
