Anyone know anything about hormones?

I recently did one of those hormone tests where you send off a blood sample and they email you the results. I had to do it on day 3 of my period.

The results came back as low oestrogen. I'm 37 and showing none of the 'side effects' of low oestrogen. What does it mean? Is it just my 'normal'?

Prob worth just keeping a check on symptoms such as brainfog, fatigue, insomnia and if affected, look into a low dose of hrt of you want to. Youre not obliged to do anything though.

What were the checks for if you didnt have symptons?

I've just had a hysterectomy (kept my ovaries) and wanted a pre-OP benchmark so I could monitor by them myself. I was expecting low testosterone tbh as I've always had a rubbish libido. But taken aback now as periods have always been heavy and regular, no problems conceiving (have a 6yo and 16mo both conceived on first attempts!)

Anyone from the weekend crowd?

im not really sure what youre asking people Creme? If you are not having any issues from low oestrogen, then theres no problem. Or maybe you are having issues, but havent connected the dots?

Having a benchmark now might be useful for you actually.
I had a hysterectomy (kept ovaries) a decade ago at 35. I've had 6 years of hormonal chaos and got nowhere with the GP's. I have no idea what my normal hormone levels used to be.

I guess I wondered if I'd just had low oestrogen forever and it's just my normal (I suppose no one would know the answer to that!). Is that possible?

I think I'm just surprised!

And also wondering if I should be looking to increase levels?

Yes, unfortunately I’m only 34 and I have learnt a lot about hormones these last 5 years. Find a private Dr who prescribes BIO IDENTICAL hormones. Not the synthetic kind. Bio identical are made of plants and you don’t get the side effects you do with synthetic. They are safer (I am on two types). Also check out the work of Dr Jolene Brighten, Lara Briden and there’s another Dr whose name has slipped my memory. But you’ll find her through Dr Brighten. Instagram is the best place to get to grips with their work, but they also have websites. If you’re having symptoms (even ones you take as normal) and your test results says low estrogen then get it checked out with a private Dr for sure. You don’t want low estrogen going into the menopause otherwise you’ll be hit with a whole host of PREVENTABLE issues. Sending all the good vibes. Bio- or body identical HRT is available on the NHS. I’m actually on it. The progesterone I take, Utrogestan, is based on yams.

Ok perhaps I'll make an appt with my GP and see what she says. I've heard about bio identical HRT. I was hoping not to need anything just yet!
