It's only on my wrists as far as I can see and I feel fine otherwise

Measles rash usually starts behind the ears, then spreads from the neck down the body, reaching extremities last

Starting on the wrists (the place that it usually reaches last) doesn't sound like measles.

I'd say not. DD had it and it was much redder and angrier looking than that and very widespread - closer together. It started on her trunk and face and took a while to spread down her arms and legs.

However, I'm not a doctor!

No these are measles rashes. I get the occasional rash like this, normally it’s related to heat or mild contact dermatitis. In fact, I sometimes get this when my cuffs get wet!

Why do you suspect measles?

No doesn’t look classically like measles.
Why do you ask?

bigheadbunny · 18/10/2019 16:54

Thanks, that's really reassuring and it's good to know what to look out for in future.

It's mostly faded now and I feel a bit daft for panicking as I've gotten similar rashes before from scratching off of cable ties and clips and whatnot at work but I found out today that one of my colleagues has measles so I had a bit of a panic as soon as I saw it.

Have you not been immunised? I'd book yourself in at the GP's for the MMR if I were you.

user1573334 · 18/10/2019 16:57

Hmm, could be bed bug bites. They are commonly on wrists, they are flat and pink and fade on and off and reappear.

EatsFartsAndLeaves · 18/10/2019 17:04

I agree, contact your GP and they'll arrange for you to have catch up vaccinations if you haven't already had any, including measles.

It's really important that as many people as possible should be immunised.

bigheadbunny · 18/10/2019 17:30

I know I missed one of my vaccinations in high school but I'm not sure what it was for so I don't know wether I'm vaccinated or not.

I've already made an appointment with my gp but just had a bit of a panic when I saw the rash.
