“No one has asked if I was ok” (alight msiqiote but typing on phone)

What are people’s thoughts? Good on her i think but equally she can leave public eye

OP posts:

I’m sure she knows she’s blessed in many ways. That doesn’t stop her being affected by the daily scrutiny and slur on every single thing she says or does. You can see what impact it’s having on her. She’s not a robot and has feelings, how anyone can think that everything she reads or hears about her isn’t going to have an affect is thick and downright heartless.

My thread on the same issue has been deleted. Anyhow, I felt Meghan comes over in this small section of the interview like Diana did in hers. (and I was a fan of Diana - she was treated abysmally) Meghan and Harry should stay in the background now and the media might then let them alone.

Funghi whose sex tapes and nudes?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 18/10/2019 19:20

I’m afraid I’m with LouiseLouisa87 on this one.
I’d hardly call someone with her wealth and life style vulnerable.

PortiaCastis · 18/10/2019 19:22

People do have feelings money or not

Cohle · 18/10/2019 19:22

No doubt I'll get slagged off for making comparisons, but the contrast with the Duchess of Cambridge's response this morning when asked about the turbulence on the plane was fairly stark: "I think it was quite an adventure really, it was pretty bumpy up there. We were looked after so wonderfully by the RAF who did a great job liaising with everyone and got us home safely."

Funghi · 18/10/2019 19:23

sunshinesupermum MM’s. Allegedly. Although this has been touted about before by gossip and sleb sites so may well be bollocks but who cares anymore.

NoSauce · 18/10/2019 19:23

So you think people with a vast amount of wealth and paid staff etc can’t feel vulnerable or they shouldn’t feel upset when they see vile comments online day in and day out?

KurriKurri · 18/10/2019 19:24

I'm not a fan of the royals as an institution, but I like her - she's a breath of fresh air. And God knows whatever she is like she's done nothing to deserve some of the vitriol sent her way.

PortiaCastis · 18/10/2019 19:24

An awful lot of bollocks is why the law suits are being issued

escapade1234 · 18/10/2019 19:24

I heard the same about the sex tape and photos.

Mesacasa · 18/10/2019 19:26

I'm so confused!

OP how do you suggest a woman who is married to a prince and has his child just gets out of the public eye?

And why does everyone think Rich people have no right to feelings?

And what's fucking turbulence got to do with it?!

sunshinesupermum · 18/10/2019 19:27

So true Funghi

Not sure what the real purpose was of the interview when there was so much coverage of the SA trip already. Enough already with the Meghan and Harry story.

Rockbird · 18/10/2019 19:29

This reminds me of a friend three years ago who tried to take her own life while on holiday in the Caribbean. Response from most was 'you're on an amazing holiday, how can you be depressed?'

People really are stupid sometimes.

MarathonMo · 18/10/2019 19:31

@Cohle, that's just British manners for you instilled via KM's upbringing & education.

Can you and should you do the same if MM? Arguably, if she'd prefixed what she said with 'Of course I realise I am very fortunate. but...' people would be more forgiving. Perhaps she did something like this, we are only seeing a snapshot of an interview that's been edited a particular way too?

sunshinesupermum · 18/10/2019 19:33

Cohle Meghan could learn a lot from Kate's attitude.

@sunshinesupermum KM knowing the 'right' things to say because of UK sensibilities rather than US doesn't make her any more pure hearted than MM.

It isn't KM's 'attitude' necessary, it's just she's been brought up with good manners which sit well with the public. She'll therefore say the 'right' thing unconsciously.

MarathonMo · 18/10/2019 19:41

necessarily not necessary.

BrexitBingoGenerator · 18/10/2019 19:41

I hate the attitude that some people have; the ‘well my life is way shittier than hers so she should belt up’ attitude.
It’s such a British thing- to utterly resent someone who is outwardly successful. She’s a woman, trying to figure out how to be a new mum and a new wife and a new royal in a new country. Give her a fucking break and if you have nothing constructive to say, don’t say it.

This rant is solely directed at the Daily Mail comments section.

Milomonster · 18/10/2019 19:43

@sunshinesupermum I guess attitude counts but PR teams run the show. Kate and William’s trip came across as flawless without trying too hard. Im sure MM’s team would have poured over any questions before the interview was conducted.

Branleuse · 18/10/2019 19:45

I dont agree with having a monarchy at all, but its quite clear that Harry and Megan arent enjoying this at all, and I do actually feel sorry for them. I hope megan doesnt have a breakdown

MindyStClaire · 18/10/2019 19:48

Hmm Meghan doesn't have to learn anything from Kate. They are different women in very different positions, who just happened to marry brothers who are quite different themselves. Honestly, I like both but these endless comparisons are wearing.

Even if Meghan were white, all this "the American woman should stop with her American ways and be more like a proper British woman" is just icky. Adding Meghan's ethnicity to the mix just makes it even worse.

Besides, a lot of turbulence does not compare to months of attack in the national press.

Cohle · 18/10/2019 19:50

They are different women in very different positions, who just happened to marry brothers who are quite different themselves.

Really? I can't think of someone in a more similar position to Meghan than Kate to be honest.

By all means make the point that comparisons are odious, but pretending their positions aren't compatible is disingenuous in the extreme.
