We're looking for this church window, we're in west Wales, we've been to Llanwnda, little Newcastle and Letterston, but we haven't found it yet. Can any wise mumsnetters give us a clue??
We've just thought, it might not even be in a church!!
Thank you Smile

Is there supposed to be a picture?

KnittingSister · 17/10/2019 14:53

You need a better thread title for productive answers.

Waiting1987 · 17/10/2019 21:17

Can you not do some sort of reverse image search on google?

PinkOboe · 17/10/2019 21:19

There’s a nice history and heritage of wales group on FB, they might be able to help

wineoclockthanks · 17/10/2019 21:20

Can you do a reverse image thingy? < Shows age>

ExCwmbranDweller · 17/10/2019 21:22

Had you thought about contacting West Wales stained glass makers? They'll probably be familiar with churches and the styles of glass.

Here's one, Cariad Glass

LonginesPrime · 17/10/2019 21:23

We've just thought, it might not even be in a church

OP, is it a photo? It looks like it's been made for the card - is there any context as to why you think it's based on a real window?

smemorata · 17/10/2019 21:23

If you are trying to find out where someone was ordained I'm not sure that picture helps. I could be wrong but it doesn't look like church stained glass - maybe it was just chosen as a nice picture?

KnittingSister · 17/10/2019 22:04

@wineoclockthanks
@Waiting1987

We've tried Google reverse image, that didn't show anything :(

@LonginesPrime

The back of the card said it was Llanwnda church, but there's no stained glass in that church, so I assumed an error and thought maybe a different church... and then I thought perhaps not a church at all!

KnittingSister · 17/10/2019 22:19

@smemorata
the card was sent for an ordination, we're just trying to find the original window to go and admire it. It reminds me of Clarice Cliff's work which I like (and the Mr Men!) And I wanted to see it.

Now I've thought that it could actually be in someone's house, they might think I'm stalking them or something BlushHmm

Have you asked the current minister of that church, or contacted the bishop for that area?

Minorityreports · 17/10/2019 22:24

First thing would we to look at a list of ordinations? Then you can narrow down churches (most likely a cathedral?).

ChocolateOrangery · 17/10/2019 22:24

Could it be Llanwnda in Gwynedd (North Wales)? I thought of Clough Ellis when I saw the picture (architect who created Portmeirion)

Minorityreports · 17/10/2019 22:26

It actually just looks like something his Mum and Dad got for him...

KnittingSister · 17/10/2019 22:30

@cometothinkofit

We've spoken to people from that church who said it definitely wasn't there, they suggested the other places to try, but no joy there either.

I'm not sure about asking the bishop.

We'll try contacting the card publisher/photographer.

It doesn't look like a church window. It could be absolutely anything, including something for hanging in your living room, or even just an image and not a real piece of stained glass at all.
Agree it is nice, though

Alabasterangel6 · 17/10/2019 22:33

It doesn’t look like church glass as the panel would be too smal it looks like door glass, and relatively modern. Deco-Esque but possibly relatively new.

Hippopotas · 17/10/2019 22:33

stainedglass.llgc.org.uk

You could try here

MistyMinge2 · 17/10/2019 22:34

That looks like the sort of stained glass windows they put in hallway windows in 1920s/1930s houses.

KnittingSister · 17/10/2019 22:35

@ChocolateOrangery
Llanwnda, Gwynedd is a possibility, I hope not cos thats a long way from here and a different holiday! It does say Pembrokeshire tho, but then that isn't giving us any results either!
