What the hell are these red bumps on me?

Started a couple of weeks ago maybe? Mainly on my legs, I thought maybe spots or ingrown hairs but I've never had this before. Then I thought I may be allergic to the tights I've bought from m&s lately, but never had problems before.

I've checked my bed for bedbugs, no sign of them at all. Carpet fleas? But all the furniture and carpet is really new.

Washing liquid hasn't changed. Don't think it's shower gel or anything. I've attached a pic of one that has just popped up on my forearm.

Please does anyone have any ideas what it could be? It's driving me mad!

It will be alright op!! Please don't worry too much you will get it sorted. As my dad said when it happened to me 'this will be a problem for just a short period of your life and then everything will go back to normal'!

OilBurntOut · 15/10/2019 23:13

Xmastreesup thankyou. I've just had so many horrible things to deal with over the past year (divorcing abusive ex), doesn't take much to send me into a spin these days 😂

I'm gonna bloody stay awake to try and catch the fuckers! 😂

It does look like a bite but it could be from any insect I suppose.
In my experience fleas leave a similar but smaller mark although maybe you've been scratching to make the site bigger.
Bedbugs? Again in my experience there are usually several bites in the same area - sometimes in a line.

Hopefully its not bed bugs - thats my biggest dread. Whatever you do dont watch about the worst bedbug infestation or you'll never sleep in a bed again.

I get these if I use a bloody good razor! They cut hairs too short and I get bumps as they grow back in!

Xmastreesup · 15/10/2019 23:16

No it's a horrible thing to go through but the pesticide they use is really strong. You will get through it. Sorry you've had a shit time though. Sounds like you are due some good luck soon 👍🍀👍🍀

hereshoping35 · 15/10/2019 23:16

Is there any chance you might be pregnant?!? I had small itchy red spots on my legs and was convinced it was bedbugs, was washing the sheets etc like crazy, then found out I was pregnant and it can be a pregnancy symptom... who knew?! Called pruritus I think

OilBurntOut · 15/10/2019 23:17

Mia I want to set the fucking bed on fire right now 😂

OilBurntOut · 15/10/2019 23:24

Oh fucking hell hereshoping now you've done it 😂 nervous breakdown!

I've been pregnant twice before and never had it? I've been on the evra patch for a year now... I really don't think I'm pregnant.

The lad I'm currently seeing is coming over this weekend, maybe I should see if he gets bitten? 😂

Wear white sports socks around the house. If there are a lot of fleas you can often see them jumping onto them (voice of bitter experience) they are heat seeking missiles

OilBurntOut · 15/10/2019 23:55

I just can't figure out where the bugs could have come from? And whether i would have more bites than I do...

Thank you all for your help. I'm going to get in touch with pest control tomorrow. I won't settle til it's been checked out.

It sounds like the boyfriend with his dog might be a culprit, it only takes one flea to get on you to do that and the bites don’t always show straight away.
You can get some pretty deadly flea/ insect killer from pet shops for about a £12 I think it’s called stay kill that will get rid of fleas, don’t know about bed bugs though.

OilBurntOut · 16/10/2019 00:09

Ugh I'm trying to remember which coat I was wearing and the other clothes I had on when I went round his. Didn't actually see dog but maybe it was that?

Can pets control spot something really quickly and easily?

I've got similar looking things on my arm (only left one strangely). Some of them are like little fluid filled vesicles. I've got a really heavy cold ATM and wondered if it's a viral thing.

PanicInAmerica · 16/10/2019 00:15

Looks like a mozzie bite and yes we have them all over England.

OilBurntOut · 16/10/2019 00:20

I live in skinny jeans or dresses with tights though, would it be that easy for mosquitos to bite through that?

I'm convinced it's bed bugs now. Dreading sorting this out, I've got enough crap to deal with right now

Fantasising about sending a plague of bedbugs to ex husband to cheer myself up

Could it be this

Ringsender2 · 16/10/2019 00:29

Omg @miaCara !

That's a total burn-the-house-down scenario

OilBurntOut · 16/10/2019 00:38

Poppy I don't think the rash looks like that really...

I'm gutted if it's bedbugs. I had to move back in with my parents cos of my divorce and the only good thing was buying nice new furniture, decorating my room how I want it etc. I've seen people on here before say they had to get rid of their bed/mattress when they had bedbugs. I bought a really nice one only 7 months ago and can't afford to replace

OP posts:
Thehagonthehill · 16/10/2019 00:49

If it's been mostly on your legs then it's probably not bedbugs unless you sleep standing up .
Mosquitoes would also bite any bit if you sticking out of bed at night.Which leaves fleas.
Hoover like a maniac, get spray and do carpets soft furnishings.Hoover the bed.And see if that reduces the bites.

pallisers · 16/10/2019 00:56

OP, bedbugs are kind of worst case scenario - but even they aren't that bad. So don't get too wound up. We survived them.

Get a good pest control person in asap - they will tell you straight. If you have to fumigate, then that is what you do. The worst is bagging up all your clothes and putting them through a high heat drier (use transparent plastic bags to bag up).

Then they are gone. honestly. if you have your mattress in a bed bug protector then you can keep it. we dumped out 2 out of 4 headboards (only 2 rooms we found bugs in) and kept our beds. pm me if it is bedbugs.

1forAll74 · 16/10/2019 01:11

I have sometimes had bites like that, after gardening in shrubby areas, but don't suppose you have been gardening too much at this time of year. I am an oldie person, and usually put germolene on anything and everything resembling a bite.

DontCallMeShitley · 16/10/2019 01:16

Mozzies will bite you without you realising, when you are getting in and out of the bath or shower, getting dressed, they sneak into your house and hide until there is bare flesh, then they nip up and get you and you don't realise until the bites show up or itch.

Gonetoget · 16/10/2019 08:22

Fleas will just jump on your clothes and then go to town when you remove them, they could come from bf dog, or other public places.
Also, not sure how long you’ve lived in your home, but if previous occupants had pets, the flea eggs can get into the carpets and live dormant for upto 6 month
I would have thought cheapest option would be to buy can of strong flea spray from vets and blast home with that.

TwattingDog · 16/10/2019 08:46

Yes, lots of mosquitoes across SW England. I am in Cornwall, and get bitten regularly.

Inthemoment38 · 16/10/2019 09:10

Bed bugs do a number of bites in a line. Bite... crawl a bit... bite ... crawl a bit... etc
Are your bites in lines?
We have had mozzies in Yorkshire this year!
