Quick Q re Royal Mail redirection

Quick question- My husband has a name that is always shortened , think Samuel known as Sam. I'm filling in the mail redirection form online and it's asking for his details- majority of mail he gets is addressed to Sam, do I put this as this is what will likely appear on letters or do I put Samuel as this is officially his name?
Sorry if I'm waffling, I may be a little stressed at the moment!

Whatever you put down, it won't work very well in my experience.

Post redirection is done by hand, by the least literate or attention to detail person they can find.

As an ex postie, put down all name variations. You should only be charged if the surname differs (unless it changed). It's helps especially if you get someone unfamiliar covering your round.

Put every variation down. We didn't have any problems with ours. We had it for two years and didn't lose anything.
