Lasagne in slow cooker was it right?

Not sure why I'm asking. Reassurance basically. I wanted a fast tea for after school as it gave rain. So I put lasagne sheets, Raw mince and jarred lasagne sauces into the slow cooker. I cooked it on low for 5 and a half hours. We've eaten it and it's nice. I popped online for more recipes and noticed a few people saying you need to brown your mince to kill of anything yucky that the low temp won't kill in a slow cooker if it does not get to Reno fast enough. Any idea if I've just poisonined us all? Thank you.

I'm going to try this, did you do just one layer of pasta/mince? I normally do two in the oven.
I do spag bol in mine with raw mince all the time, as long as it's cooked through it's no different to any other cooking method really. I also bung raw chicken in and make a curry and that's always perfectly cooked too.

I'm going to be trying this this weekend! Thanks x

Raw mince should be avoided, you can eat rare steak as the inside of the meat isn’t contaminated by surface bacteria/germs and the exterior is cooked but when you mince it you transfer the contamination throughout the meat.

Op, I’m assuming you’re all well and I’d have no worries with what you cooked but wanted to correct the misconception that raw mince (or even medium rare burgers etc - gov guidelines are that they still have a risk) is safe to eat.

I was just about to say what Ohhh said above. Risky business. I always clean, season and brown all my meats.

I did two layers. Mince, sauce, pasta, cheese sauce, mince, sauce, pasta, cheese sauce and grated cheese

Yeah I understand it needs to be cooked thoroughly but I just meant 5.5 hours on low being enough for raw mince? The food was hot. It has been 24 hours and nobody is poorly so far 😊

Thank you OP Smile

People are talking like raw mince has been eaten. As long as it's been thoroughly cooked through it surely shouldn't matter if it's been cooked in a slow cooker or a pan?

I was responding to the pp who said raw mince was fine to eat.

I did say I think the ops dinner would have been fine.

we eat slowcooked mince on a regular basis. It gets very hot after long enough in the slow cooker.

I've never thought of doing lasagne though what a great idea
