What happens with a car service?

Me again with car stuff. I daren't ask the garage, as I worry about being ripped off, but what happens with a service? How long does it take? Is it expensive? What should I ask?

I'm not even sure what I don't know, so I thought I would ask on here rather than google. Car is Citroen C3, 54000k (ish) and the service light has come on. I think she's driving like she's 'bunged up' but my experience is pathetically limited.

Many Thanks in advance.

BuzzShitbagBobbly I don't think I ride the clutch as in have the clutch partially disengaged. I know I put the clutch fully down far too early approaching lights etc, so I'm sort of coasting (and covering the brake). I think it's a bad habit I picked up from my father. He may have died before I started lessons, but we had lots of driving days out, and I guess I think of it as normal. I'm working on it. I definitely move my foot away from the pedal when I can, because I get cramped.

I'm working on it.

I work for a car dealership
There's two services
Minor (A) or Major (B) usually
Minor is oil and oil filter change
Major does all the other filters
They may include a health check which often checks tyre and brake wear too
