I'm not sure if this is particular to my own particular Guide Company (slightly concerning) or whether it has its own chapter in the Guide Handbook (even more worrying)
As a Girl Guide back in the early 1980's, we used to partake in an activity known as 'Trotting '. This consisted of 4 guides lined up side by side (the horses), with coloured tapes around them (reins) being held by a guide standing behind them (the driver). The whole ensemble (along with other teams) would then trot in a clockwise circle and would be marked on their timing, raised knees and pointed toes.
Needless to say, whenever I relate this childhood memory, eyebrows are raised higher than my scabby knees ever were.
And so, dear Mumsnetters, was this ever a recognised team sport or was I part of a very dodgey form of formation 'Strictly?!
