Old baby mattresses

I'm changing ds's nursery into a more grown up bedroom for him and don't know what to do with his old cot bed mattress. It seems such a waste to take it to the tip but I know second hand mattresses are frowned up. Any ideas?

Any friends you could offer it too?

No, they all have older children.

I covered mine in fabric and dd has it as a reading corner now.

He's getting a cabin bed which means a lot of space will be lost but his bookcase could go under the bed and free up room space so yes, it could be used for a comfy reading area.
