I’m 40 and I was brought up listening to my Mam’s music. This mostly consisted of Wham, George Michael, Brian Ferry, The Police, Dire Straits, Queen etc.

Then when she met my stepdad I was introduced to The Cars, Simple Minds, Prog Rock, Rolling Stones etc.

I didn’t really have loads of money to buy my own music so I just borrowed their CDs. My eldest is 11 and would never listen to any old music and I think he’s missing out!

Nothing there was no music played in our house. The radio was only used for Dad to listen to sport. My Mother had an inherited wind up gramaphone which was put in a cupboard with the 1940's/50's records. They are still there. Unloved and unused.

As a result I have a handful of cd's, some singles and LP's from my teen years and no record player to play them on.
Even the car radio is broken and I've never been to a pop concert. I have no interest in music.

James Last, Elvis, Johnny Mathis, Perry Como, Jim Reeves, anything classical, Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra.

My mum always had the radio on in the house.

We listened to so much music at home when I was growing up, and still do whenever I go round. The radio/Spotify is always on!

Mum- George Michael, Wham, Style Council, Janet Jackson, Luther Vandross, Ella Fitzgerald, Glen Miller, Simply Red, Yazoo, Michael Jackson, Cher, Lighthouse Family

Dad- Cream, The Jam, The Clash, Fleetwood Mac, Queen, The Sex Pistols, Blondie, Squeeze, James Brown, Stevie Nicks, The Prodigy, Madness and any 90s dance anthems

They've definitely influenced my taste- listen to a wide variety of music. I'm 30 so grew up in the 90's and 2000's.
