DM, why are some comments moderated in advance?

How does that happen?

It makes me think the person has something to hide

Is DM "Daily Mail" ?

If so, it's generally on topics where they know that the paper line is completely out of tune with what the public think. So they have to curate the comments to give the impression there's either no dissent, or that anyone who dissents is some sort of pinko-commie-pervert.

That makes sense, I was assuming it was the person the story was about who had control over comments

I wasnt thinking straight :)

Sometimes if it involves a legal matter, its to avoid undermining an investigation or contempt of court.
