Adult mini break suggestions

I am looking for suggestions for nice hotels - possibly adult only - for long weekend break. It is for my 40th birthday and also will be coming after treatment for breast cancer. This will also be the first time my husband and I will be away from the DC in 8 years!! So we are looking for something really nice.

Looking for nice rooms, food, surroundings. Looking to chill out, sunbathe, eat and drink and not much else. We love a good beach but will be long weekend only so not too far - can anyone recommend something special!!??

Also this will be for next year - May, June time.....

Malaga is a beautiful city and lots to do - lovely beach and plenty of great places to eat. Weather would be fab at that time of year as well.

What's your budget? Sicily is lovely as is mainland Italy. In May I would look at further south
