Any electricians here?

I want to switch from a gas to electric cooker (preferably induction). I bought one but when they came to deliver/fit it they couldn’t do it as I only have a 13amp fuse in the cooker switch box by the cooker and no dedicated cooker switch in the fuse box (and it’s pricey and inconvenient to get one fitted). They said I’d need to stick with gas but having done some research it seems maybe not as long as my cooker is under 3kw. (The one I ordered was over that). Does anyone know if this is right? I really don’t want gas anymore as it’s a pain in the ass to keep clean!

I had the same problem, the Neff oven I wanted was too powerful for my fuse box, it meant I’d have to have a lot of electrical work done to accommodate it. On the advice of the electrician I settled for a Neff with a 1300 plug.

Just search for 13 amp cookers. There are lots available.

I tried doing that search but it doesn’t show me the 13amp options. I’m having to look at loads of cookers and so far all I’ve found is above that.

Neff B47CR32N1B integrated is 13amp with a plug.

The problem is I’m replacing a free standing cooker and not sure if I’m going to be able to find what I’m looking for!

I thought I'd update just in case anyone finds themselves in a similar situation! I had an electrician round and he said it would cost min £350, up to £500 to do the rewiring necessary and it would look crap too! At least he was honest!

So in discussion with him, it was decided it was actually far cheaper and would look better to add in a cupboard to house an integrated oven and replace the bit of worktop there to house a hob. Then I can get the 13 amp plug in ones recommended and they will work. Bit of a boring update but it may help someone in future!
